Meet James, the first in a handful of newborns who I was privileged to photograph over the last couple of weeks! I photographed James' family last summer and I was thrilled when they contacted me to photograph the newest addition to their family.
While I had James tucked snuggly into the tushie-up pose (which he went into like a champ), I took some detailed photos of his little hands and feet. Some of my favourite newborn images are the detailed shots of squidgy little toes, fingers and their teeny tiny pouty lips!
James was such a curly baby (comfortable curling into a pose) and let me wrap him into different variations of Huck Finn which is one of my favourite poses to do since we can do it wrapped or unwrapped and change up the look of the pose in a handful of different ways. It's also super adorable!
I love all of the little details in this shot, from James' perfect little hands and feet to his still-attached umbilical cord which I thought best left unedited . He was such a dream to photograph!
James is one lucky baby with TWO of the sweetest older sisters to help look after him and play with as he grows! I look forward to photographing this beautiful family again in the future.
I spent a wonderful evening in May photographing the beautiful Scott family at their property outside of their home. The property itself is a picturesque acreage with stunning views spanning open fields, hills and forest and was a dream to photograph; although the late afternoon sky was overcast there was a very soft light diffused through the clouds which gave this photo session a slight dreamy look.
This gorgeous stone wall was the perfect spot to capture a few sweet moments between mother and son.
I loved the soft colours and textures that they chose for their wardrobe and found that they were really complimented by the tranquility and nature of their surroundings.
When this sweet boy clutched his mama's finger during a posed shot, I knew that I had to capture it forever! These little moments are always the ones that I treasure the most in my own family photos and I love being able to give my clients a visual keepsake of the sweetest little gestures.
I recently had the opportunity to photograph a maternity session for parents-to-be Kaitlyn and Tyler. We photographed this session in Birds Creek, ON at a location I had not previously used but will definitely be keeping this one on my list! Set against a gorgeous waterfall backdrop, this beautiful spot provided a variety of backgrounds, such as a brilliant sunset and lovely forest that we were able to utilize to change up the look of set.
Wardrobe choice makes such a difference in the look of photos and I love how Kaitlyn made use of layering, textures and an adorable floral print to draw attention to her beautiful baby bump!
Every pose is thoughtfully planned ahead of time but helping my clients to draw out a particular emotion is what sets the tone for a meaningful photo session and requires complete trust between me and my clients.
Kaitlyn and Tyler were such a dream to work with, trusting me with every movement and every prompt in our time together; beautiful moments like this one can not be staged.
Of course you have to have some fun too! Kaitlyn and Tyler brought some ideas and props of their own which I was happy to incorporate into their session.
